about me

I use prose, familiar, often nostalgic imagery and iconography, plus humour, to challenge privilege, ableism and heterosexism and to assert my identity as a proud, queer, disabled, older man.

In my work, I challenge what is deemed to be acceptable and confront the unthreatening stereotypes of gayness and disability that much of society still expects the queer crips to conform to.

Drawing on filth, rebellion and farce, I am inspired by Alan Bennett, Keith Haring, Lucien Day, Derek Jarman, Peter Blake, brutalism, David Hockney, Victoria Wood, Andy Warhol and Tom of Finland, amongst others.

I make homewares, cushions and bowls too - we all need beautiful things to look at, something nice to sit on, and soup.
